How to compare suspensions
Identify what it supports
Separate the cab, front axle, drive axles, auxiliary axles and trailer running gear. A change intended to improve cab comfort does not increase an axle rating or establish a higher vehicle payload.
Match the actual installation
Record model, axle arrangement, ride height and body application. Product families can include multiple capacities and mounting designs. Parts that look similar are not automatically interchangeable.
Read ratings in context
A component rating, a jobsite-travel rating and legal road loading are different concepts. Get vehicle-specific approval and suitable local guidance for loading or modifications. Use the manufacturer’s instructions and qualified service support for any physical work.
