Eaton transmissions

Eaton Cummins offers Endurant HD in 12-speed overdrive and 11-speed direct-drive versions. It is an automated manual transmission, with the system controlling clutch operation and gear selection. The HD family should be distinguished from the heavier-duty Endurant XD and XD Pro offerings.

The Endurant XD is an 18-speed automated manual aimed at heavier on-highway work. Eaton’s transmission guide distinguishes its three reverse ratios from the XD Pro’s six. That distinction is one reason the XD and XD Pro suffixes should remain visible in a truck specification.

Endurant XD Pro is an 18-speed automated manual from Eaton Cummins, with six reverse ratios in the published specification. It is positioned for demanding vocational and off-highway applications. Its controls and application scope differ from Endurant XD, despite the closely related names.

UltraShift PLUS is an Eaton automated manual family based on manual-transmission architecture with automated shifting and clutch actuation. Eaton Cummins’ transition guide distinguishes it from the purpose-built Endurant range. Different UltraShift PLUS suffixes refer to different applications; the family name is not one fixed specification.

Eaton’s Fuller FR Series is a 10-speed manual family with direct-drive and overdrive versions. Eaton’s guide lists it separately from the RT-13 and RT-18 families. The full FR or FRO model code is needed to identify a particular unit’s ratio and rating.

RT-13 is Eaton’s 13-speed manual transmission family. Eaton publishes specific service information for 13- and 18-speed designs, and the RT-13 should not be confused with an automated manual merely because both appear in heavy-truck listings. Full model identification is still required.

RT-18 is Eaton’s 18-speed manual family, separate from Endurant’s automated 18-speed offerings. Eaton’s service material warns that a 13-speed must not be treated as an 18-speed merely by changing its air controls. Model identification and internal specification matter.
